Recently I had the unfortunate incident of waking up one morning to find my XJ900 on its side on the sidewalk. Possibly a drunk staggering home from the local Irish theme Pub down the road deciding to hop on but not being able to hold it up (hmmm...).

No real damage apart from a mirror broken off and the screen on the fairing broken into several pieces.

I found this local guy who does nothing but provide replacement screens to attach to fairings - he supplies screens for insurance jobs, repairs etc. and can do any stock factory screen.

But I also found out he can create a screen to fit a one-off which is apparently what my fairing is (a Universal fairing created locally in Australia in the 1980's).

One week later and I picked up the fairing with new screen attached last night. A perfect job. Photos to follow.

Also, it's the chance meetings that lead to a fruitful outcome. The signal/indicator lenses on the fairing are broken and need replacement but I had no idea where I could track them down. Well...he suggested that they were off a 1980's BMW R100RS fairing! Well...(again)...a Google search when I got home proved that to be true! And, a local wrecker has a number of the lenses but also the housing behind them in complete form!

Sometimes an unfortunate incident that leaves even minor damage in its wake can lead to a better than expected outcome.

Screens for bikes for anyone in Australia is highly recommended. Here's the link:
