What kind of seats does everybody have? I'm looking to use another style seat than the stock but I'm not sure what can be used on the xj650. Pictures if you can!!!

I have a Corbin on my Seca 750. It looks like this, but without the backrest.
[IMG]It's really comfortable for long days (I'm pretty well done after 7 hours of riding, but my backside isn't sore).
The bigger question is: what sort of riding do you plan on doing?

A few long distance rides and back and forth to work mostly. I don't like how the maxim seat is made and I have been looking at the saddle seats. I just want something that will fit back like the stock that is different.

I'll be riding by myself but I don't want to completely get rid of the backseat.

My suggestion then is to search for a used Corbin, or have either a Sargent or a Russell Day-Long made. They reason why I say a used Corbin is that their customer service is pretty bad. They prefer to sell you a new seat rather than repair the one you already bought.

The cheaper option might be to have a local upholsterer re-work your seat to have a better fit. The key is to make it wider so your pelvis is fully supported. That can be done without widening the seat pan, simply by lowering the foam height and going with a firmer foam, as in the Corbin pictured earlier. This is something that can be done at home, but it's a bit messy and there will be some train-and-error.

Probably not what you have in mind, but thought I'd share. Just got it back yesterday. I cut the original seat pan, reshaped the foam, gave to my upholsterer.

Hi Coty,i home-made a single seat unit with a card board mould, filled it with expanding foam, ripped the cardy off, then got a fibreglass kit.My son sprayed it,put a couple of yamaha gel stickers on.It has foam for the seat, but will be having an upholstered one made soon. The original seat can be refitted,as no lugs have been cut off the frame etc. Still got a way to go.New shocks, probably Hagons,a Norvil fairing to fit, some proper rearsets, front fender to paint black. xj 650 4KO 1981.jpg

I seen those but they weren't quite what I was hunting for.

Only thing I don't like with king-queen seat is that I have to sit always the same way and I can't stretch my long legs. I prefer flat seats, or with a very small bump.

My lower back doesn't like them at all ! I prefer being able to sit further back on the seat.

I got lucky on a mis-catagorized Ebay listing ($40 shipped!!). Corbin will still make one, but I think you need to supply a seat pan now.

I love those. Scored some pretty nice deals over the years if you know to search things properly.
