    I was wondering what is the difference between the various Seca 750. Yamha has a XJ750RJ, XJ750RH and a XJ750RK. Does anybody know what, other than paint scheme and driving/fog light, is different from one model to the other.

    Thanks

    Ken

    The model year
    XJ750RH = 1981
    XJ750RJ = 1982
    XJ750RK = 1983

    rpgoerlich is right that the H, J, and K denote the year, but there were some minor changes from year to year, such as some had a yellow tinted fog/driving light, and others had a clear one. Maybe someone can shed some light on which years had which. I am unsure as I had an '81 that when I bought it did not have one at all and I put a clear lensed one on, and my '83 has a clear lense. Also, the engine paint was different. In '81 & '82 they had a "raw" or aluminum or silver finish, and in '83 the motor was painted black with silver accents such as the faces of the engine covers and the thin edges of the cooling fins as well as the grooves between the raised ribs of the valve cover.

    Some of the differences also had to do with market, rather than year. For instance, the UK models came stock with oil coolers. The US models did not.

    The yellow fog light lens may have been a country-specific thing rather than a year thing.

    My 81 came with a yellow-lensed fog light. I took it off, it was gross looking :-/

    I thought I read somewhere, the XJCD's perhaps, that there was a service bulletin or something where the dealers were required to swap out the amber lens for the clear in '81 and subsequent models only came with the clear lens. Ring any bells?

    I agree that it does not look the best but with a 55w bulb the front of my bike is easier to pick out of traffic on a sunny day.

    Actually it had a clear lense on it but I picked up the amber unit on e-bay

    I am not sure about this. the XJCD says the XJ750RK, was made in 1981 & 1983

    The 750 I just picked up has a yellow fog light and a black & stripes paint scheme. Not sure of the year, will check the fram as soon as I can. The other 750 i picked up was an 1982, with a touring package and clear lens driving light. The paint scheme was red with no stripes.

    I had saw that as well in the XJbike ID, I think it's a Typo.

    My 81 XJ750 Seca, Black with Red Stripes had a smashed Yellow Aux. Light. Only could find a clear one for it.
