    Please excuse my ignorance:

    Will a 1982 Seca gas tank work on a 1981 XJ650 Maxim?

What kind of modifications would be needed to make this possible?

Motor, it will "fit" but doesn't look right......those in-ward scalloped areas on the rear of the Seca tank just don't match up to the Maxim side covers like they do on a Seca, and it just looks odd (personal opinion, of course). But it will physically fit the Maxim mounts.

I put a maxim tank on my seca. The brackets and everything are the same, as are the gas cap and the petcock. I actually have a seca tank for sale, I'd sell it cheap too because it doesn't have the gas cap or petcock which I used on my new maxim tank. PM me if you want it.

Do any of you have pictures of a seca tank on a maxim?

I took the tank off my seca and sat it on my maxim to see what it would look like. It wouldn't fit right with the maxim seat unless you have the front of the seat trimmed back. And like chacal said the seca tank and maxim side covers just don't go together. I'm curious what a seca tank would look like on a bobbed maxim with a solo seat. I could mock up my maxim again and take some pics.
