ok, so i traded a pistol i never carry for a non-running '94 xj600. after some spark plugs, fresh gas, plumbing and love she's running like a raped ape. this bike is 100% stock right now, but i hate the exhaust, it's ugly and doesn't have that performance tone that I so love. i found these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-98-XJ ... 264wt_1165

on ebay, and it says in the description that there is no re-jetting required. I've heard this before....not sure I'm buying it. have any of you out there switched the mufflers on your bikes? if so, what did you use? how did it sound? did you have to fuss around with the carbs? where can i find them? I'm really loving this bike, it's much faster than my old SOHC honda 750 (which is under construction, big bore, hot cam, paint, powder coat etc) and my wife hates it, which means more solo riding time for me. ALSO, the dampening in the rear mono-shock is absolutely NIL. I've found used ones from $35 and new ones from $350 (which ain't f'n happening).. not sure i trust an old shock, could be just as shot out as mine is..anyone know of a viable alternative? any other suggestions/tips/whatever about this bike? I'm a neophyte and I know it, so if you guys have any knowledge you wanna toss my way, I'll be very grateful.

    thanks in advance.

Give us a picture or ten of the bike and give us an idea of the look you're going for, then take a look at these. http://lowindustries2.ecrater.com/p/103 ... ty-exhaust
Shorties that are baffled, read the ad as I don't want to type a novel. See what you think.
If the ones you show in your post are supposed to be direct replacements then jetting should not be an issue. Jetting only comes up if you replace the complete system with like a four into one that radically changes the way the bike allows the exhaust to breath with less or no back pressure. Then you have to up the jet size so the bikes carburation doesn't "Lean" out on you. Then you usually go to a less restrictive air filter so that you can get more air in, which in turn creates another jetting issue.
So, if the manufacturer states that the ones in their ad are direct replacements, then no, there should be no jetting issues, but take that with a pinch of salt and check your plugs after a short ride.
    Just sayin'.

I don't know if I like the looks of those. The bike needs a lot of work in other areas too, the rear shock is whipped, got one coming from eBay, also its been laid down and the tank is pretty beat up, needs dough and paint or just replaced. Fairings are also rough and the seat is ripped. I'll get it all squared away eventually.
