Hey guys, just want to check this before I bid on some stuff on ebay but I think I know the answer to my question. Are the motor and drivetrain components interchangeable on the maxim and seca 750's? Or are they specific to the 2 bikes? Based on my chilton manual being for both of them it seems to me that the difference between the 2 cycles would be primarily the fairings and body components. Thanks in advance for the replies =)

You can look up the specific parts in the Yamaha parts fiche. If the part numbers are the same the parts are the same.

Motors and drive lines should swap no problems.

It depends what drivetrain parts you are seeking. Driveshaft yokes, for instance, are different between the 700/900 and all the others. Most of the XJ1100 parts are different than the XJ650 - 900 models. The Turbo models use some extra items in the rear end that their lesser-duty cousins do without.

Interchanging entire units between two unlike models would PROBABLY not present any real problems, but individual component pieces, depening who the lender and lendee are, may cause some issues.

You are spot on there Chacal but I understood the question was directed toward the 750 lines as mentioned in the original post. I apologise for any confusion.
