I am almost positive that this has been covered here before, but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone direct me towards a good tutorial to convert a Seca tank to fit a Maxim?

750 seca tank (and I think the 650 seca) bolts right on. the issue is that the seat won't fit right and I don't think the side covers fit right and they certainly won't look quite right. as far as I know there is no practical way to mod the tank so it fits with the stock seat.

I have a 750 Seca tank on my 650 Maxim. Bolts right up. PO cut the rear tabs off it before I got it.

well said. Especially on the 550s and the 650. The 650 Seca was a completely different animal than the 650 Maxim. Virtually nothing interchanges, at least not gracefully. The 650 Seca was a multi-year model "standard" motorcycle in the rest of the world, from about 1980 thru 1983. We only got it for one year. The Maxim, introduced with the same non-YICS motor for the American market, had little else in common, from the frame up.

Bottom line: It'll look goofy. I think a Seca 550 tank would probably fit/look better; but those aren't exactly easy to find. I believe a couple of folks have fit one to a Max with better results than a 650 Seca tank.
