Could it be the fuelhose holder (with the tip broken off)? (Will try to find a pic later).

That's a spare bit, we've all got them

Seriously, How thick is it. Looks like a cable holding tab thet's been stretched out. Did it come from inside the cover or just jammed in somewhere? LH side cover is ignition components so wouldn't want someting missing in there. :?

Looks like the tab that pushes the crank case trigger wires back under the tranny/engine gase.

It should go over the lower left allen bolt as you are looking at the shifter.

It keeps the wires from getting dorked up by the shifter end..

or in my case it tried, but the shifter ended up hammering on them anyway..

Oddly enough. I was looking at an identical part last night and scratching my head. On my Turbo Seca, there is an identical looking part that is held on with the llower left bolt that holds the rear cover on. It hold a line in place, though not very effectively.

Sometimes I go to Bike Bandit .com and search thru their OEM schematics. It may take a while to look because you have to keep flipping back and forth but it's at least a source.
Unfortunately, it won't help at all if it's a part of something that broke off.

    Good Luck,

Looks like the keeper that holds my wires in place in that area.
