Karma has taken me to task!

A couple years ago I bought a 2000 Katana 600 from a friend. My Seca had started exhibiting symptoms of needing a good carb cleaning and the price was right so I added her to the stable.

I put off taking the carbs off of the Seca because of all the horror stories I read here and other places. The Seca was running fine but if you rode hard the No.4 cylinder would drop out until you let it idle for a few minutes. If you never twisted her tail and kept the engine at a lope it was fine and would run perfectly all day. I suspected a blocked float valve in the #4 carb.

Well I finally decided to fix it. I pulled the carbs. Easy as pie. Not even one swear word involved. After removing the bowls, floats and float valve seats, it was obvious that the problem was due to debris blocking the fuel line between #3 and #4. A good cleaning and the carbs reassembled, they went back on as easily as they came off.

    Now I have no spark!

So I have to dig the manual out and start trouble shooting the ignition system.

New coils, wires, plugs and a fully charged battery.

Yeah, I went to get a fuel filter but the local auto parts store didn't have anything small enough in stock. I'll check with the yard equipment service shop next time I go that way.
