Anybody know anything about shipping bikes to a different state? For purely legal reasons I can't ride my bike to where I'm moving, over a thousand miles away.

My nephew shipped his CBR600 from Arkansas to Wyoming by Federal with no problems. I don`t remember the cost, but I remember it being reasonable. www.funtransport.com or 1-800-747-4100 ext. 217 or 218

I expect your cheapest route would be to rent a trailer.

    Where ya moving to?

Yeah, a trailer would be a good idea. But I'm one of the select few in this country without a car. Just one 1982 Yamaha XJ650 maxim, now running beautifully but without a title or license to drive it. Long story.

I'm returning a job in northeast Nevada. It's a great place to have a bike, highways across vast desert landscapes, no police, sun-bleached blondes in bathing suits holding motocycle helmets trying to hitch rides on every exit.

Okay, the last one's usually a mirage.

A bike is considered "Household Goods". With that said, I'll piggyback on Beanflicker and say any moving company will include it with the rest of your stuff. If you're not having a moving company move your goods, just put it into the back of a U-haul.

All of the above is going with the fact that you will be moving "other" items out to Nevada too. How you accomplish this hasn't been identified yet.

    Just my $0.02,

I don't own much more than you can put in a backpack. I'm flying to vegas with some clothes, camping gear, and climbing gear.

Uhaul or federal, it seems it will cost me at least $800 in rental fees, plus gas if I use uhaul. For that, I can get all my paperwork straightened out in nevada, fly back to virginia, and ride to nevada when it's a little warmer. Not easy, but maybe fun.
