shock compression

    I customizing my rear fender and tail light, how much clearance should I leave so that when the shocks compress it doesnt hit the tire?

    Stock 82 seca 650 shocks and Im about 225lbs.

    Pull one shock. Take it apart (remove the spring) and put it back on the bike without the spring. Remove the other shock. Put the bike on its wheels and bottom out the rear suspension. Measure your clearance.
