I'm wondering if any one has had any experiance with putting air shocks on there 650 maxim. I'm tired of bottoming out when I'm loaded (the bike).

I'm not looking to break the bank, meaning cheap. anyone with suggestions?

    thanks

I know several people have replaced using the air shocks from the XJ 1100's, or from the mid-80's Venture's -- could try that route.

However, it's usually easier, cheaper, and better for quality to get a pair of Harley take-off's from Ebay or something, and just get the bushings changed to fit our bikes -- another trick several people have done.

Hey Great! I bought a set of air shocks from www.jirehcycles.com along with a nice little hand pump for them for about $120 just recently.

Hey Dead I searched the site and can't find any shocks - their search leaves a lot to be desired - what brand etc did you get?

I just tried to post a comment to their site using the contact address they provided and the address is undeliverable according to the nice people at Microsoft. I couldn't get the search function to work either.

Glad I'm not the only one having issues there.

    Hummm....

Well I go to www.jirehcycles.com then go to the Harley side....not much for us in the Metric....

Then I choose the category, then Subcategory and look away. The shocks I got were $109.95 a pair and the hand pump for them was $19.95. Shipping on $100 and over is free.

THe part number for the shocks I ordered is 116-256. On the website you can see a pic of what they look like with part number 116-255.

Ahh I went to the metric side - silly me...

They look great the pump looks useful for forks too if you can add a hose to get under the bars....

So did you have to change the bushings or anything to fit?
