Look what I done with a spare carb hat that I had laying around. I first polished it to a mirror finish, then sprayed it wit Krylon X-metals blue, then three coats of clear. Man it looks like anodize aluminum. Not bad for something under $10 USD. Stay tune I will be posting a blog soon about little tricks like this. Also I will be restarting my anodizing business soon ( had to move and have not set it up yet) if any one is interested. I can polish and anodize your aluminum parts and you will never have to worry about corrosion again.

Unless it was rattle can clear....

I like the idea, I polished my hats last clean, maybe a bit too much and now have a few rust spots :(

I have use this clear before. Once it drys and cures under the heat lamp it resisted gas. I am thinking about striping and doing the tank.
Besides how many times has any of us spilled gas on our carb hats,,,at $3.00 a gallon.

I had a set powder coated high-gloss black for $7 each.

No worries about gas resistance and no more rust.
