Okey, since I didn't need the locking mechanism for the seat no more I decided to fill the hole and to repair the tab that usually breaks on the start of the cover.

First off, grind down the edges and some more and filled it with fiberglass.
Some things to think about if you are going to do the same.
Make sure you grind down enough on the edges of the hole, you don't want straight edges, you want a slope towards the hole itself. that is so you get a smooth transition and not a big hump over the hole.
And when applying resin on a surface make sure you have removed all paint and sanded it down with a 40grit paper to make the resin really bond with the surface. (And a tip is to stick a piece of tape on the back so the resin don't runs right through the hole)

The tab needed some more work, here I made two slots in each side of the gap and fitted a piece of plastic in between, like a bridge (I used what I had at home, in this case a part of a plastic ruler), locked it in place with some resin.
Then I sanded the plastic and the area around the gap with 40grit (with a slope to make a smooth and strong transition) and then started adding fiberglass to build up strength and width.

That is a pretty good idea. Does it appear to be as strong as the original pieces? I've never worked with fiber glass.

It's as strong as the original piece, when you push on the added part the entire side flexes with it.
