Well, I took her to for the MOT test yesterday and she FAILED on rear damper. Unfortunately monoshocks cost twice what twin shocks do so the mechanic is trying to find me a cheaper replacement.

She has been in my garage for 5 months now and I was fed up fiddling and wanted to RIDE! I made sure I went the long way to the petrol station, the long way to work and the fast (Highway) way home. The good news is that all the work I have done is in order although he reccomended 20w fork oil rather than the standard10w I have used.

Some of the completed tasks include, replace regulator, refurbish instruments, new swing arm bearings and linkage bushes, repair front mudguard, strip and clean carbs (Have carbtune - yet to balance), refurbish inlet rubbers, replace blown bulbs, repair ignition switch, new fork seals, recover seat....whew!

She still needs washing but that can wait! I can't understand why they only sold these in the US in 84/85 - they were sold until 91 in the UK.

She's an oldie but a goodie.

Thats far nicer than mine! Been working on my 92 for a few weeks now and hopefully will be MOT'd in the next few days.. My rear suspension was siezed solid... I broke the little link arm in half, followed by the 12mm bolt trying to get it out..

Whats wrong with your shocker? I've PM'd you about one I have.

Thanks, Tiff. I have replied. Your bike looks very familiar to one I have seen on ebay recently. Mine came from ebay last summer for £350.

Yours looks good! My bike suffered at the hands of previous owners - if you look in my gallery you can see a lot of the things I had to put right. The worst thing was probably the pair of tights used as an air filter!

Yeah, it did come from Ebay...

Totally siezed rear suspension, non runner, rotten exhaust, bust fork seals, siezed brakes, stuck clutch, knackered battery, gummed up carbs..you name it! Its been a busy couple of weeks!!

Rode it for the first time yesterday, rode really well, but had a huge flat spot.. 3 year old petrol! Still lots to do,mostly cosmetic, but at least I can ride it now, instead of standing in the garage looking at a pile of bits..

There are THOUSANDS of XJ600 parts on ebay Germany! seems far more popular there than here.

Thanks- square. As Far as I know all the UK spec bikes were, although I think you could buy unfaired models in europe.(with the round light)
