I am new to this board and new to the 650xjr. I was just given a 1982 XJR by my brother. Always had British bikes before so this is quite new to me. Some questions:

    1. I noticed somewhere a mention of a CD containing tech & repair info on these model motorcycles. Anyone know where I can obtain it?

    2. Never had a shaft drive before...is it a major operation to change a rear tire? Any detailed instructions anywhere?

I haven't gotten this thing running as yet, needs a new battery. But I'm sure when I do I will have about a hundred other questions! I appreciate that there is this site to come to as I'm already learning a lot about this bike just by reading through the forums. Thanks for any info anyone can provide.

You went right by the XJCD order info. In the forum at the top is the "sticky" column. Info is in one of those stickyies.

Rear tires are a snap. I actually find it easier since you don't have to reset the wheel travel like on a chain drive.

Welcome to you DeRenzo, Blue's advice is spot on. Your in for a treat with these shaft drives. I would also suggest the purchase of the factory manual and/or the Haynes.

Thanks to Robert & Blue Maxim. Found the CD site and have ordered it. Also found several sites to order a Haynes manual which I'll probably get after checking out the CD. Thanks for the direction.
