I would like to know this also, my ignition switch is getting pretty funky in that the key sometimes turns the switch, sometimes I have to play with it to get it to turn. I can remove the key from the ignition switch too with the bike running.

    Thanks,
    Chuck

    Replace the Ignition Switch.
The Ignition Switch tumblers are getting worn-out to the point where any object inserted into the Ignition Switck Key Slot will turn the switch and allow the Bike to be started.

Replacing the whole Ignition Switch will be LESS expensive than having your Ignition Switch repaired.

The amount of Labor involved will be the same because the Ignition Switch Assembly will have to be removed and replaced.
Replacing it with a New Switch will save the additional cost of having your Switch overhauled by a locksmith.

You should be able to fine an OEM Factory Ignition for under 50-Dollars.

I am scared to go to my local Yami dealer to get a new switch, they will likely charge me an arm and a leg. Where do you sugget getting one of these ignition switches other than the dealer?

    Thanks,
    Chuck

    Online.
    You don't need the Dealer.
Any Bike Shop will have them; too.
Ignitions are a Part that is almost Universal, not to just Yamaha ... but across Manufacturers, too.
