I want to swap my vacuum operated petcock for a standard one. Can I just cap the vac port on the petcock or do I replace it? My intakes are from MikesXS and have no port.

Technically you could just cap it and run it on PRI all the time

The only issue with capping the vacuum petcock, is that they are old and often leak, and if your carb float needles leak, you can fill your motor with gas (not fun)

the “off” feature of the new one is nice to prevent that, also properly wet setting your carbs

I’ve never had luck even rebuilding the vacuum petcocks, they always leak for me

Ya best to get that old thing off there and go with an option of not leaking. ebay or amazon have them for a good price.

The only problem with the aftermarket petcock some are better than others , and some the lever may have to be trimmed as they can hit the tank , I know as the PO had one on my yellow Seca , I bought a used factory petcock and a rebuild kit no problems , since you cannot run this , as was stated you will need to run on PRI , just move it to the ON position after riding . Most aftermarket petcocks you would need to do the same , I know when I had the aftermarket petcock, I forgot to move it to OFF and filled crankcase with fuel . One carb was leaking past needle and seat , had to drain the oil and replace the plug , and put new needle and seat in ....and make sure I put petcock to OFF after riding ...and of course put it to ON when running.
