    Hi,

I painted my rear hub and put the rear together again. But I don't get the wheel in the center. It seems like I should leave the washer out or shorten the spacer. But of course I better find the cause. The attached pictures show the misalignment, the dirt cover not dropping entirely into the hub, and how much the spacer sticks out. But what can be wrong? From the left to the right I installed: nut and washer at the outside, spacer and washer at the inside.

Would be nice if someone has an idea what can be wrong. Thanks in advance!

That washer does not belong inside the drive hub.

There is supposed to be one inside the wheel. Yamaha calls it "Spacer flange" and it belongs between the spacer and the right bearing. Any chance you or a previous owner put it in the wrong place?

If you get a parts manual you can double check your work by seeing where every part properly goes. I have changed out my bearings before and I needed the book because there are a lot of parts and they need to be right. Just my 2 cents....

it looks like the gears aren't meshed, put it in gear and twist back and forth and push the wheel towards the differential

The gears were meshed up. Yes, it is a Maxxis Promax tire. Although I own a 700s, I do have a service manual of the xj650/750 variant. So i've uploaded the pages related to this subject (backwards, unfortunately)

I don't see the long spacer or washer in the Final drive shaft schematic. They are shown in the Rear wheel schematic. But I don't understand where exactly. I can't make that up from the drawn lines. The image guide indeed shows a spacer between the left and right wheel bearings, but that's a spacer has a collar. The one I put in the drive hub is just a tube.

Edit: I see the washer in my hub is supposed to be at the right of the brake backplate.

Probably it will fit like that now, but still I'm wondering if the spacer tube is supposed to be in the drive hub... Anyone knows this?

Spacer tube does belong in the drive hub.

You're right, there should be a washer outside the brake plate. I forgot that.
