spark plug heat ranges

    Does anyone use a hotter plug than spec?

    I just checked my bike and the plugs are 1 heat range hotter than the manual calls for.
    is this a common practice for these bikes as they get older?

    The plugs look good but are light grey/white as compared to light tan.
