On my 82 Seca 650 with 42k miles, it was running bad and I noted two of the exhaust pipes were cold even though new spark plugs just installed.

Went to pull off the boot and it disconnected from the wire.
    I read this post
    http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=11221.html
but was wondering if there is an easy way to reattach the boot to the wire.
    Thanks!

Sounds like you're talking about the plug end and that post is talking about replacing th e whole of the HT lead from the coil end, At the plug end you should see a screw
inside the 'boot' or plug cap that screws into the lead/cable. They may have come loose because your leads are old and no longer have enough grip around the plug cap (boot) screw you can try cutting the leads back an inch if you have enough slack.

    Cheers

The spark plug boots just screw on. Cut about 1/4" off the end of the wire so the screw inside the cap gets a fresh bite.

Moose, thanks for the info. So when I look into the end of the plug boot, it appears to have a nail, right. So, if I just cut off a small amount of the existing wire, can I just stick it back into the boot?
    Thanks.

That "nail" is actually threaded kind of like a self-tapping screw. You SCREW the cap back onto/into the wire. Don't overtighten.

Also, check inside the cap and ensure the resistor core is not loose.

And don't cut off too much wire or the boots won't reach the plugs. 1/4" is plenty.
