Yesterday I was riding on the freeway and my speedometer stopped working. When i got to the destination, I tried screwing the cable into the speedometer better but it didnt help. Then i just pulled the cable out of the speedo and watched it as i rode through the parking lot and it is no longer rotating. What could be causing this?

Unhook the cable from the speedo drive at the axle and then spin wheel to see if that is turning. If so, the cable is probably gummed up and/or broke internally. You can remove and clean the inner cable and housing in some instances, or replace the whole thing.

If the output on the speedo drive is not spinning, you will need to pull the axle and wheel to see what is going on there.
