Why is some information so hard to find?? (either that or I don't know the right search words to use..) Can anyone tell me the thread size on the speedo cable for an 82 750 maxim. Is is the same thread size on both ends of the cable? Thanks

    JEEZ.

It's not in ANY of the reference materials I have; not the service or assembly manuals, tech bulletins, nothing.

BUT since you're a fellow Michigander, I will go out in the garage and either find an old cable or actually take a bike slightly apart JUST for you! Then I gotta find the blasted thread gauge...

Gimme a foo, I needs a new beer. This one's defective, musta had a leak.

    Here you go:

    12mm X 1.0, both ends.

Although I measured on a 550, all '80s XJs are the same; you should be good.

Thanks, BTW. I found my metric thread gauge, and put it back where it belongs.

Oh golly. I read your mind.

How's the weather in your neck o' the woods? It was 100*F here yesterday; now it's like 54. Must be Michigan.

Yuo ..same here... Michigan is one of the few places you get to use your AC and your furnace in the same week 8O (that is if you HAVE central air... )
Don't like the weather... just stick around a couple hours.. it'll change...lol
