I recently (today) picked up an ultrasonic cleaning machine. The only affordable ones are too small to fit the entire rack of carbs into.

How difficult is it to split the rack of Mikuni's from my 86 Maxim X?

And what would you use for cleaning solution in the ultrasonic machine? If I split them and can get all of the o-rings and rubber parts out, I will use carb cleaner that I have in a gallon can. But if I cannot get all of the rubber pieces out, what is plan "B"?

from what I have read, you DO NOT WANT to split up the carbs because you will not be able to align them properly after the fact. I would just ultrasonic the individual parts you get out of it when you rebuild it.

    That's a Jewelry-type Sound-Box.
It's NOT for Machine Parts and Assembly's.

It WILL clean-up Jets, Emulsion Tubes, Springs, and Screws.

The Jewelry Cleaner sold with many of those small Desk-top Sound Cleaners will cause bright Aluminum to come-out dark, charcoal-gray.

To get the Carb Bodies "Sonic-ed" you need a Heavy Duty 40 -or- 90 Gallon Cleaning Tank.
Those are made of Stainless Steel and have separate "Cycles" that the cleaning process entails.
Soak, heat, sound, rinse, fill, re-clean, rinse and filtered rinse.

Depending on what's getting cleaned; determines the cleaning agent.
Whatever agent is used ... the solution is actually mostly water.
