So with my new build, I'm wondering if it is possible to swap out the wheels on my 82 xj650 seca to spoked wheels? I read a column a custom build that a guy got his wheels from a virago. Here's the link. Let me know if you think it's just a straight bolt on application?

Do you have a machine shop, and/or a ton of cash to spend?
It has been done (by Yamaha for one), but it is not a DYI proposition unless you are a retired machinist.

As for the wheels: the hub splines are the same, but the wheel sizes are not. As mentioned in the thread you linked it is not a direct-swap. Metal work will need to be done.

I've already said cash wasn't an issue in my other post about my complete rebuild. I just want to know if it has been done before, and if not, can it be done?

I'd only pay that if seller is willing to throw in the rest of the bike with it!

I already tried making him an offer, and he's being a dick. I'll quote his email back to me.

"If you feel the price is too high i completely agree that you should not buy this wheel. But you see i have sold a few of these in various conditions in the last few years and i have never had a problem selling them at these high prices. If you look though my feedback, you can see a few that i have sold. If I remember correctly, I have sold one of these before for $650. I feel completely comfortable asking this much for that wheel. Simple supply and demand."

And all I want is the rear wheel, not the front one because I'm building a custom front end on my bike. With our dollar being super shitty right now, I'd say the most I'd wanna do is $100-150US, cause then I still have to have it shipped.

Just because I have money, doesn't mean I have to spend it foolishly. So what do you wanna do about that virago? Are you gonna buy it?

    Nope. Still available.

Seller feedback shows he has only sold 1 other 750 virago rear wire wheel @ $400 over a year ago.
No basis for his ridiculous pricing!
Obviously his head is somewhere below his shoulders. Even by his own statements!

To be fair $600 CDN is like $200 in real money.

    ;)

I just re-looked. He is asking for real money . I'll wager that he has a garage full of stuff that won't move until his children have to clean the house out.

I was refering to a virago on cl with spoke rims.
The spoke rims are an option for only 2 years so not all the viragos had them in those 2 years
the standard "mag" rims for those 2 years run about 125 to 150 with out the rear brake drum.
it is a hot item amoungest the spokies

Lol shaddap, it's not our fault the dollar sucks so bad. I'm trying to convince a guy on the opposite side of the country to part out his virago, but he said it depends on if some guy is coming to pick up the whole lot on the 11th, if not I get my wheel!

The CL bike was a deal for the price.

Perhaps you missed the write up on the subject?
