Ok guys, lets see what you make of this. 1985 XJ 700. I have a mild squeak that I believe is coming from the rear wheel, and it is only present when I am turning to the right. I have removed the wheel twice to try to track this down. The break shoes have a bit of life left in them, but they are getting down there. I'll replace them as soon as possible. Everything is nicely greased so I'm stumped. Any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Karl

Rear wheel bearing wear is allowing the brake drum to shift just enough under cornering load to drag on the edges of the shoes and/or backing plate. Or one of the bearings themselves is becoming unhappy.

Replace your rear wheel bearings. They're not expensive, it's not difficult, and there's no practical way to re-pack them.
