So, if I'm backing out of my drive and turn the forks to the left, I'm hearing a high pitched squeal coming coming from the front. It also happens when the forks are straight ahead, but not quite as much. If turned to the right, then no sound at all.

It feels as if the brake is grabbing a bit. My question is what can cause this to only happen on one side, but not the other?

Caliper hanging up. It only does it when loaded from one direction and not the other because it's a single piston ("single-sided") caliper.

Carefully diassemble, clean and lube mounting/pivot points; you might not need to rebuild the caliper itself.

At least you aren't experiencing the "flat refuses to roll backward" syndrome. NO fun.

You have set your fork tubes to close together and your caliper is making contact with the rotor. Loosen the pinch bolt at the bottom of the fork leg and give yourself about 1/16" more clearance.
