    Hi all,
Starter clutch has been improving well in the past few weeks.
It was slipping so bad at one stage that the engine didn't crank long enough to fire up.
So with advice here I realised that not only was the oil the wrong grade it was also manky. To add to this the floats stuck open one morning and dumped fuel into the crank.
So by now I have changed the oil three times and the starter clutch isnt slipping until this morning..Slipped a little from cold. So my question is...How many oil changes will be needed to settle the starter clutch down completely.?
    Thanks all,
    Morg.

The starter clutch should respond almost immediately to the correct oil - it's all metal - the "main" clutch is a fiber material, and contaminating it with "energy efficient" chemicals takes a while to leach them out, hopefully restoring normal clutch usage.

My 900 can't tolerate a full synthetic oil, but my 750 can.
As soon as I changed the 900 oil back to "Dino", the starter worked fine.

You may have to consider a broken starter clutch ring (cue violin music).
