    Hi all,
Morg again.. Had me oil changed recently and lately I notice that the starter seems to slip when I push the start button. Seems to be worse since I had the oil changed. I heard that if you use thicker oil such as 20w 40 its better than some of the newer synthetic brands.
So what would you recommend oil wise.?
    Thanks all,
    Morg.

Synthentic oils tend to make the starter clutch slip. Our bikes were designed to use conventional petrolium oil, stick with it. Use most any brand of motorcycle specific oil, 15w-50 is most popular and easy to find.

I think he meant 20W50. Yamaha recommends 20W40, but that's a bit hard to find; 20W50 is fine except in uber-cold weather.

The most important thing is what mlew touched on; and that's that it needs to be conventional motorcycle oil, not auto oil. Castrol 4T is widely available.
