I thought my starting issue was because of my valves.
But my valves are all within spec now. And it still starts hard when warm. Gotta give it a bit of throttle to go.
    What else could it be?

Poor starting is quite often poor carb performance, ie throttle shaft seals or blocked idle circuits.
The picture is that of seals from a maxim X mikuni carb that I did for Paul's bike. After done bike stared instantly hot or cold.

^^^+1 Toomanybikes agree .. One thing you could try is pull fuel line off petcock drain the float bowls , close drain , take a large syringe and inject into fuel line Seafoam or Berrymans B12 fill up bowls ... let sit for about an hour , drain bowls and reattach fuel line to petcock open to PRI let it flow for a minute or so try to start see if it improves . This is HOT SHOT method , it has worked for me before ,but is not a cure for doing a full rebuild .

try setting the petcock to prime for 3 seconds before you try to start it warm.
fuel can evaporate from carbs when bike is hot and weather is hot. carb bowls are not sealed from the outside world.
