    I recently made this thread:
    http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=40304.html

Diagnosed, found out it was the starter. Took it apart, cleaned a bunch of magnet junk out, put it back together. Bike started right up!

Is it normal for the starter to really spin like a motherfucker before the engine fires though? Like it SPINS then the engine fires.

Did I put it back together wrong? Should I get a video of what I'm talking about?

If you cleaned out bits of magnet, then the starter is bad. That's why you should never tap on a starter, if it has magnets-they will break.

Can I get a rebuild kit for it? Would that do?

The magnets are glued into place in the "field case". The field case is a major component and costly, so most likely you'll be better off with another starter unless you come across a case that is the exact same diameter, length, magnets and the right placement for the magnets and the same position for the battery post.
