On my XJ55o, The thing runs like a top, smooth shifting, Idles around 1200 rpm. I have one problem, it normally starts right up on first crank but if for some reason she diesright after startup, I have to let her sit for about an hour before she starts again. I dont think it's flooding or being starved for fuel. Anyone have this problem before?

If it isn't flooding then I would suspect a weak battery. Check it with your multimeter and see what you get before cranking it one morning.

Sounds a bit like vapor lock, which happened on the Olds a few times. My 550 starting problems turned out to be a combination weak battery and dirty kill switch.

mine use to do that, it was a combo of a bad wire in the harness and a bad ignitor box
