I searched for an answer and no luck. Here's the deal. Bike is in the process (still) of being cleaned, painted etc. Got the carbs done and back on the bike, new grips, painted handle bars. Now when I twist the throttle it does not snap back and must be rolled closed. I thought the cable was sticking so I took it out of the switch housing and worked it with a pair of needlenose pliers. Worked fine and snapped back. Reinstal it into the throttle grip and it sticks like crazy.

Any ideas? Tips on lubing this area? Maybe the plastic throttle tube is dragging on my paint?

    Thanks,

    Shane

I've had a similar problem and since you just got new grips, it might be the same problem. Is the grip hanging up against the control housing? There should be a little nylon washer/spacer thingee between them. If it's not there friction will cause the throttle to stick. The throttle will probably be harder to move in either direction. This is a very unsafe condition. Get it resolved asap.

    Best,

    Greg

I have that washer in there. And infact there is a bit of a gap between the housing and the grip. So it's not binding there. Bike is not being ridden as it's not back together just yet. Working on some paint and waiting on some parts.

Thought I'd post a reply to wrap up this thread. Turns out the end of the grip was grabbing the end of the handlebar. Slid it out maybe 1/8th inch and smooth as silk.

What have you got for Bar Ends?
Do those grips have a Flat-ended Cover ... or, are they open and you add-on Bar Ends?

    Closed-enders need turning-room.
Open-enders will bind on the Bar End.
The Nylon shell might be dragging.
Take the twister off and 800 shoe-shine sand the handlebar down to baby's bottom smooth. A smear ... a sheen ... the essence of some synthetic grease after you shine-it-up!

(Broken strand of the wire sometimes behaves like this; too)

Thanks for the info Rick. I have the skull grips from progrips. Seems the inside of the skull end cap was dragging on bar end.

One thing down many more to go.
