ok so i was trying to fine tune the carbs ... i built a home made synch tool from a plastic bottle i epoxy sealed the 4 tubes into the bottle, filled with 90wt gear oil, sealed the lid with epoxy and tested it with a vacuum pump up to -15psi... everything holds and is steady..... that being said i have a very srtange issue. my carbs are bench synched within .002 on the micrometer at idle and WOT- good enough for government work.

    Synch tool readings:
Cyl #1 gets 7in rise and is agitating with air?
Cyl #2 is steady at 8 in
Cyl #3 is at 8.5 in
    Cyl #4 is at 8

i tore them back down and reset every thing, then re-sealed everything.
and those are the best consistant numbers i can get ... and i cant get the agitation to stop on cyl #1 in the oil..... i even swapped it to another lead to test it and it seems to be on just that cylindar

i have a feeling i am going to get told to inspect my valves but just thought i would check in first.

the bike runs pretty smooth and i have a good even burn on the plugs... (i always run just a hair on the rich side on my mix settings - better a little rich than lean)

strange nthat you only get a flutter on 1 cyl but I also never used 90w !!!! WOW I guess it makes sense a thicker liquid would move less than a thin fluid. And yes i fyou are up there in miles and have not checked the valve clearances you are wasting your time trying to get a perfect sync. My 85 700x had a bit north of 24k on it when I checked mine and every single one was under spec I could not even get a .004" feeler under most of them. It is time to do the deed. But if you have a good idle and it runs well then you are dang close to fine tuned.
