stupid question

    first a brief explanation on why im asking this question.
    teaching my wife to ride she laid the maxim over at low speed
    bent handle bars and a broken clutch cover on the right hand side were the biggest of the damage
    do you need that cover?
    i think its called the stator cover. Do you need it?

    Stator is on the left side.

    On the right there are 2 covers. The larger one with the shiny circular insert needs to be intact or it'll spew oil.

    The smaller one ahead of it that has 4 screws holding it on is decorative only. So long as the case behind it is intact you should be ok.

    yeah it is just that small one with 4 screws that took any damage
    cracked off case behind is fine =)
