I found this site while looking for help with an '85 FJ600. Now I have an '87 YX600 Radian project.

The engines are SOOO similar to the XJ's, sharing many parts, the Radian uses an XJ frame, among many other parts from the same family.

I don't always feel like General Chat is the right place to post. The XJ discussion is OK for technical. The Other Bikes forum might get overlooked by people who have no interest outside the XJ "family".

What about a sub-forum for the FJ, FZ and YX bikes? There's no dedicated forum for these that I know of. There is a Yahoo group, but I much prefer the forum format.

I'm sure it would generate new and, hopefully, useful and productive traffic to the site.

I think the decision to initiate "Sub-Forum's" lies solely with the Site Administrator.

Unless the idea is approved by the Site Administrator we shouldn't alter his creation without permission.

Forums for DIFFERENT Models already exist.

Consult the Administrator BEFORE expanding the Forum beyond its scope.

Forums for the XS are abundant. The FZ,FJ and YX are non existent, hence the suggestion for a special section here.

Agreed, & I think it's a good idea. Snosheriff is the site's owner/creator so maybe you could contact him & ask about the idea/link him to the thread?

Rick, what's the point of posting that? None of us "regular" members have the ability to expand/modify the forums anyhow so I feel this suggestion (in the suggestion box) was perhaps directed at the creator of the forums...

I'd be interested in building a new website for bikes that don't have one. However, I wouldn't expand this one to other model sub-forums tho.

it's not likely to gain much traction if it is a "pay to play" forum. the yx600 yahoo group is somewhat active, but there is little to no moderation, so it is fraught with spammers.

Would "pay-to-play" solve the spammer problem?

not likely, this forum has been free for a decade without any spam problems. it's more that the yahoo group is not properly moderated.

yes he is doing a great job, and you're a real funny guy! the reality is that you are talking about a bike that had limited production, much like our beloved xj bikes. in the end, there just isn't a very big following, at least not enough to warrant the cost of hosting and moderation of a website dedicated to them.

since the radian yahoo group came up in conversation, I decided to start a yahoo group for xj owners. unlike the radian group, this group will be heavily moderated. anyone wanting to join the group will have to go through me, i.e. no spammers will be allowed, unlike the radian group.
