Thanks for all the advice, tips etc... over the past couple of days.

You know what it was? Spark plug caps. Four $8 stinking bits of plastic and it started immediately! I got to take my first ride up & down the street even.

I'm certainly not finished. Next is color tuning, proper carb sync and then I should be good to go.

Thanks again to everyone on XJbikes. This showroom condition baby is alive again!

wait, i dont know if they went over this in yur other posts... check for rear brake delamination.... you probably should flush out your front brakes and put new fluid in there, make sure your air filter is kosher... may want a new one, your valves should be adjusted... and so on and so forth...

and btw, totally jealous of your fjr 1300, I want to buy one and turn it into an xjr1300

oh, my bad. I only meant the engine & carbs are getting close. Between fork fluid / seals, front brakes, rear drum, a clutch that was just un-seized, tires etc.... I'm certainly not saying I'm ready to cross the continent just yet, lol.

Here's a pic of me on an XJR1300 down under, back in '03. Check out the 'roo crossing' (never mind being on the wrong side of the road).

Having ridden both, I wouldn't bastardize either. They're both too sweet. So to be safe & fair, I recommend getting one of each Bill. I sure wish I could.

Oh and Fab, I had been pissed for 2 days over inconsistent testing results so plugs & caps seemed like a good bet. I went to motosports Newman in Lasalle and am I ever glad I did. Thanks for the compliment - I can't wait til it runs as good as it looks!

Hey, anytime buddy. I'm also pleased to announce that next time you're here, my kitchen no longer ressembles a garage. All tools & carb rebuild paraphernalia are finally back where they belong!
