Gday, the sump plug is torqued to 31 ft/pds and with my old metal crush washer no worries but seems tight,i tried some new single use fibre washers and before i could get to 31 pounds it was breaking up,so at the moment its not at the tightness specs, because its a much softer washer and forms to shape much easier would i still need 31 pounds? does anybody use these fibre ones or am i better off going back to copper ones, thanks

I'd use the real thing. Why try to out-engineer Yamaha on something so "trivial" yet so critical? Personally, I keep a handful of them in my parts drawer.

Copper, aluminum or teflon washers work just fine, I'd avoid the fiber ones.

ok thanks guys, at the time the fibre ones were the only ones i could find locally without going to the yamaha dealer, got onto some copper ones though through ebay,i got 30 of them so its enough to last me a long tiime.

Teflon sounds like a good upgrade.
