I have a 1994 Yamaha XJ 600...Been having some problems and I fixed them..now i have another. The carbs have been cleaned and synched, have put on a brand new fuel pump and fuel/vacuum lines, new spark plugs, air filter and oil change. Bike ran like a dream for about 2 weeks and now it surges at around 4-4.5 rpm until it reaches about 5.5 rpm in every gear. By "surging" i mean while holding the throttle at 1/2-3/4 full it speeds up then slows back down then speeds up again. Any ideas? could it be bad ignition coils or wires? if so the wires CANNOT be replaced other than buying new coils because they are connected. Thanks in advance

Could be ignition but it sure sounds like fuel. As you run low on fuel it slows than picks back up as it gets fuel. My guess would be float height since you have new pump etc...

It sounds like carbs, as in dirt, and not clean in the right tiny little place. You'll have to take them out and look for problems, check the float level, and all the jets for dirt. Not a general cleaning, an inspection of the critical circuits.
