Hey I just got my first bike but the engine is running at about 187479 mile and was thinking of swaping or rebuilding. has anyone ever swapped it with the xv750 and how hard was it.

    Welcome to the site !!

The driveshaft must be aligned exactly the same, within 1/4 inch I guess.
Since the same engineering team designed both bikes at the same time, the rear mount just MIGHT be the same, or in the same plane at least.

But why use THAT motor? it is known for starter issues, and has less HP.
It has to fit the top of the frame too, and front mounts would be needed.

And who puts THAT many miles on a bike in Canada?
    You sure the "9" isn't "tenths" ??

The frames ARE different. You don't want to go with this engine, the starter issues are really bad, and Yamaha was notorious for it. I had a 94 xv535 I picked up off of CL with 6k miles on it for $250 and it had the starter issue. It's the ugliest sound you will ever hear, next to a total engine failure.

Short answer is no one has done it because it's too much work to get an inferior motor.

Look for another XJ lump - they're out there.

The Virago Engine would also require an Intake Plenum to be fabricated to match-up to the opposed Carb Intakes with an opening to atmosphere and a Filter arrangement.
This would cause the Fuel Tank to not fit ...
Then you have forward and upper mounts to deal with ...

Then ... the cutting and welding starts.
