I"m thinking of dropping the silly pull back handle bars that came with my XJ 650 and going with ones like the ones on this bike: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=12877.html My question is if I go this route what front master cylinder and clutch handle will work to get the mirrors to look right? Has anybody swapped for ones like these before?

    Those look like stock bars.
I beleive stock bars on the 650 are 7/8".
So any 7/8" bars should accept the stock controls.

The pics are what I believe are stock 400 handle bars. The issue with the controls now is the angle that they sit due to how the ends of the stock 650 bars drop near the ends.

Everything is quite adjustable to the point that the angle shouldn't matter much, and you can pretty much choose from any bend 7/8" bar you want. The only real issue with mirrors is that seriously narrower bars will get you a good view of your shoulders unless you fit "wider" mirrors. If you go to drastically lower bars, you may need a shorter clutch cable, otherwise you should be ok.

You don't see any issues with the angle that the stock master cylinder will be sitting in with the flatter bars?

Not at all. Should be able to adjust for it. Look at the pics of my white bike the angle is drastically shallower than the stock Seca. MY problem is that the bar is narrower, too which gives me a really good look at my shoulders if not adjusted EXACTLY right. I'm gonna fit "wider" mirrors on my '83 and see what happens...
