switch or bulb issue?

    81 xj650. When I attempt to switch to high beam all that that happens is my guage lights quit and it stays on low beam. Switching back to low beam brings back my guages. Does this mean the high beam side is burnt out or do I have an issue with my switch? Thanks

    The problem is most likely with the switch. Open it up and clean it out.
