    Greetings all,

I recently replaced my tach cable because it was long past due (it was leaking oil onto the front fender. When I pulled it, the whole inside just fell out...not good).

Since I replaced it, I have continued to have an oil leak. I am curious if there is supposed to be an o-ring there or if it is another issue. BTW, the cable I replaced with was brand-new from the local dealer.

    Thanks in advance!

There is an oil SEAL and an O-RING within the tach cable GEAR DRIVE ADAPTER unit on the cylinder head (that is what the tach cable screws into on the engine) and those seals and the o-ring should be renewed........

since we're on the subject of tachs - any idea why my tachometer sometimes jumps right from 5k to 6k?
