Wondering if I need a cooler grade spark plug.
    Currently running a BP7 I think...

    Symptoms include:
White insulators, but runs RICH(sputters, smells like gas, and generally acts like its rich.)
    But plugs have white insulators....

    Any ideas?

#BP7 Plug should be the one for that bike. how's the idle? I would see how lean you are at Idle and just above. Which would verify your pilot circuts. Mine was lean and I adjusted by useing a propane tourch. I ran the propane in the air box and adjusted my mixture screws so it did not make a differane any more when you add & take the propane away. That got me real close to setting up the mixture screws. I actually made it alittle fat when I added the propane the last time. (my plugs are just getting tan on one side of the insulators) I moved the mixture screws a hair richer and it runs alot better.
I'm not sure but if the pilots are lean it will follow through up to high mid range. The carbs were set up to use the pilot fuel as part of the whole intake charge into the cyclinders. Maybe Rick could go further on this one.

Use the propane to check for vacuum leaks too. THe idle will pick up if your adding propane through the throttle shaft seals and Intake manifolds. Thats a fast way to see if you are not sucking air somewhere its not supposed to.
