    the brushes are between the screws and two little nuts? am i right in thinking this?

    Exactamundo. On the front brush you can see the small wear-mark..

    so what part is best to changed? and i know im dumb but where on the bike is it located

    m0pp3ry, there are no dumb questions you know..

    The 2 square brushes can be changed by loosening the 2 big cross-headed screws in the plastic "brush-holder". They´ll slide right out and have a small spring and a small piece of wire, secured by a small screw on the other side of the holder. Trickiest part of the operation is getting the alternator cover gasket and a rubber cable mount in place again when remounting the cover..But it´s no big operation.

    The alternator is located on the left side of the bike - just behind the cylinders, below the carbs you can see the big round alternator cover (its far left in the picture).

    The smaller round not-so-shiny cover to right of the alternatorcover is the starter motor (which also have brushes in it..)
