This morning I was looking at the motorcycle section of my local Craigslist and found a set of saddle bags for $25.00 I rode out to look at them and they were in rough shape but still worth what he was asking. I went to pay and he said he felt bad about their condition and sold them to me for $10.00.

I first that quote in 4th grade and although I didn't fully understand it then I always drawn to it, and even though I didn't understand it then I understand it now.

You'll get some "dearness and value" as soon as you sand and paint them.

Careful as I am - I keep kicking the top of my right saddlebag getting off the bike.

Nice deal and quote, but as a spelling freak I need to point out the correct version of "to":

" That which we obtain too easily, we esteem too lightly"

Hate me not for being fussy that way, I can't turn it off. ^_^

Yeah, but maybe it was a couple of COMMA'S that were missing. That would change the meaning entirely:

" That which we obtain too easily, we esteem too lightly", could have been-

" That which we obtain to, easily, we esteem to, lightly"

    LOL.
Of course, there are SO many ways that it can still be interpreted. :)

No need to sand or paint as they are leather throw over bags. I used some Armoral Leather cleaner/conditioner gel on them and they about look like new, well except for a few scuffs and one small whole on the back side. All in all worthwhile. However the "dearness and value" come in because I have been waiting to find a set like this for a long time, so most of the actual price paid was the long patient wait.

I like Thomas Paine's writings he was good at not only getting his point across but also firing up the people's spirits as well.

I am not sure of the brand. I know they are at least 35 years old as the gentlemen who sold them to me said they were in his barn when he first bought the property. I wish I could tell you more. I will post some pictures tomorrow when I have some free time tomorrow.
