    Hi from Greece
This is my xj550seca.I have it since 1987.I was thinking to rebuilt the bike, and gave her a cafe racer character.
I remmember that she was in working contition since 1995.The basic problem was the carb.I remember that i cant find VACUUM PISTON.
Anyway naw that i have find,im think to srart the project.

I like the Seca 550 stock, but with low bars and improved brakes and suspension, this is my '83:

I want to share a few thoughts with you.First of all my xj550 is not in working condition. The basic problem is the old and worn carbirator membarns.
For this i have already found the solution from a Holland company. They have anything i want for my XJ.
The most unbelievable thing is that i have already found in a single day all the manuals(owner/parts/maintenance).Im so glad, all the manuals are in english.I mention that because for my other bike a Honda CB400superfour all the manuals that i have are in Japaneze. And i was looking about one year.
All the facts tell me.Go on with the project. So my bike says "build me up again".
Im planing to make the bike with one seat.I will remove the tail and the back light. The new tail that im thinking will be something like this:
The ony difference that im planing is that i want the tail shorter and lower. That tail is looking to the sky like some streetfighters.
The tail that i will use is from an old Kawasaki kzr125 like this in the photo that i have sold.Î’ut i sold it with other tail.So i have the tail and i can use it:

I must tell you that i will not cut off or change my original swingarm like some bobbers project.Im thinking to change my oem handlebar with a dragbar, and the oem gauge with a nikel tachometer.
The rest of the bike will remain oem.Its allways possible to change my opinion after some years. And i want to make it easy to change the bike to the original condition.
Could you give me your opinion about my project??

Warrning. If somebody suffer from stomach ache or some thing, dont look at the next photos.Look what happens when you dont have a close garage and you leave the bike for 15 years at your backyard.
The nissin front brake galiper, have melt at the plastic window.

    Forks,suspension,chain,swing
    arms are full of rust:

My mikunis have tranformed in a mest of bugs.Who knows what i will find when i will open the curbs:

My beautifull engine will absolutelly need electostatic paint:
My gas tank gould have been in a more worst contition than i expect:

I know that i have to remove every part of the bike. From a small bolt till all the body of the bike must clean from rust.
But im not in a hurry at all.Every part one by one.Day to day.
For examle for the corrupt point of the galiper i have two solutions.
a.I can use my second CB400superfour galiper. And all the mutter ends But this is from a Honda.
b.I can fix the hole of the original galiper with the use of Durafix.(A kind of aluminium melt).
With the second solution i will have more work to do and i know that i have to change the brake fluids periodycaly by the book usin the change dates. But i will have the original Yamaha logo in the galiper near my right hand.

Αnd the best solution to fix my galiper.I have found it from a Franche motoforum.A biker with the same problem. He solve it by the use of a small cycle piece of glass (1,70cm diameter)and the BISON Epoxy Repair Aqua. http://www.bison.net/en/products/648-ep ... pair-aqua/
So with that solution i will keep my oem galiper, and i can watch the brake fluid quality and measurement. [IMG]
bigfitz52 your motorcycle looks so new like it was bought yesterday. Its like it came from an exhibition show!!!! Shocked
Im so in shame for my XJ.Im so in shame for my indifference for my bike. But as i have already said my XJ will rise again. One way or another!
So a first step to fix the galiper have done.
Test with water.Everything ok.Now i have to paint it with a black satin color.
One thing is for sure,i have the clearest galiper glass in hall planet!! :D
