I'll go see it today or tomorrow and try to talk him down to 500$ or something. I'm interested in the using the exhaust system he has on mine.
What other things should I look for with a parts bike? If all it really needs is just a carb system, I might try to get it in working order. How much $ are carb systems usually?

My bike doesn't "need" anything, but it's all stock minus replacements for worn out parts. I've been wanting to dump the dual muffler exhaust for a small single, and install a jet kit. I've love to lighten the bike 20-40lbs if that's possible.

Wow, are Seca's normally this cheap?

I have same bike and bought mine for $1600 with 5.5k miles on it. I had to put in about 600$ though to get it in good condition.

"Only need [a] carb to be a running bike."

    Negotiate.
    Low-ball.

Having a whole Parts Bike definitely IS a nice option, ... especially around HERE, where you might have to lay-down your ride because some azzwhole cuts you off.

    (( I freaked-out the other day ... a drunk drifted-over into my lane and had me lined-up for a head-on. A miracle saved me. ))
