Hello all! My name is Steve and I have recently purchased a 1985 yamaha maxim xj 700 non x. When I first purchased this bike was not running and when I got it started gas was dumping out of the carbs and the engine reved up to the point I killed it before I even looked at the tach. This is my first bike so I am by no means an expert but I have some basic knowledge. Using previous post, great info, I tore down the carbs replaced the needle and seat, all jets, gaskets, and also found the gas leak to be the "T" that the main fuel line connects to at the carb had bad o rings. These were replaced and no more leak! The reason for this post is that after about two weeks of being apart I cannot remember exactly how the throttle and choke assemblies were when I removed them! Rookie mistake but I'm dying to see if the carb clean/rebuild solved my high rev problem! ( also preformed bench sync as per postings here) if not I will take to a bike shop were they can sync them properly for about $200. Anyway anyone have pics of how the choke and throttle hook up to the carbs? Srry for the long post thanks for the info!!!!!!!
