It has been awhile, but since i am not taking any classes this winter, i have time to ride again. During the fall semester i bought a MAC 4-1 exhaust and a Dynojet kit; I couldnt wait to install it.

The quality of the MAC exhaust is OK. The welds arent the cleanest and it looks like they just sprayed it with flat black primer (and missed some spots) and left it at that. Getting it to fit was quite interesting, but after experimenting with different positions it now fits ok. This exhaust is quite loud without the baffle. It sounds very agressive and I like it, but way too loud for those early morning starts, so I put the baffle back in. With the baffle on, its sligtly louder than stock, but it still retains a nice sound. Overall, its an OK replacement for my rusted exhaust, especially for the amount I paid for it, but in the future I still would like a nice stainless steel one from Jardine.

The installation of the Dynjet was quite simple. The only thing hard was taking the carbs off the bike and reinstalling it. I used the 124 Main Jet that was provided and placed the E-clip in the #3 position from the top of the needle. One thing that caught my attention during the installation was that i had to drill a larger hole on the bottom side of the piston. (Is this to help with throttle response?)

Road the bike back and fourth. At the recommended Dynojet settings, there was a flat spot at around 3500-7000 RPM. It felt like it was stumbling a bit. Checked the plugs and saw grey/white, so i decided to lower the E-clip on the needle one notch. Went out for another test run, but now the bike runs like crud, back firing all the home. Figured I made it too rich so raised the E-clip 2 notches up (now in position #2). Bike seemed to run better, but stumbles and pops once in awhile. I parked the bike and checked the spark plug caps and guess what? #2 & 3 werent fully seated. So back home I went and repositioned the E-clip back to #4 position and now the bike runs very smoothly with no flat spots. I went for a long cruise and found myself a long stretch of road and gunned it a coulple of times. I discovered that there is still a small spot where the bike hesitates under WOT, but other than that acceleration was great all the way to redline. It seems to occur around 6000-7000 RPM.

I will try dropping the E-clip one more notch to see if there is any improvement tomorrow. For now i am quite exhausted. I wouldnt have been able to do any of this if it werent for this forum. Thank you all :D
